FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The ADDY Awards competition is for advertising only. All entries will be reviewed by the ADDY Committee prior to judging to qualify them as advertising. All entries that are not advertising will be disqualified and the entry fee will be returned to the entrant. Entries that are not considered advertising can include calendars that are not self-promotional items or part of a direct mail campaign and documentary DVDs.
Do I have to mount my entries on black board?
(PLEASE NOTE THIS IMPORTANT CHANGE) Black board or foam board mounting of physical entries is no longer accepted. Instead, physical entries must be placed inside an appropriately-sized envelope. The NAC recommends transparent, plastic envelopes. (Found in most office supply stores and catalogs.) Manila-type envelopes may also be used. For your convenience we have provided links to major suppliers of envelopes:

What do I do if the web site I created is no longer available on the clients site?

How do I find out if I won an award?
Attend the GFAF ADDY Award Ceremony on March 1, 2008 at Lynfield Event Complex. Buy tickets here.
Do I need to be present to win?
No, you do not need to attend the ceremony to win an award. The co-chairs of the event will have your award and you can schedule a time to pick it up.
How do winning entries move on to the next level of competition?
If your entry wins a Gold ADDY® at the local show, it will be automatically forwarded to the district competition with fees paid by the local advertising federation. Should the entry win Gold again at District level, it will be forwarded to the national competition with fees paid by the District.
If your entry is awarded a Silver ADDY® at the local or District level, you have won the right to compete at the next level of competition and may choose to pay the applicable entry fee in order to be forwarded. Make sure you check the 'auto-forward' box during your online registration, indicating that you wish to be billed for the corresponding forwarding entry fees. This will ensure your Silver entries are automatically forwarded to the next level of competition.
What does "ADDY" stand for?
ADDY is not a acronym. It is simply the name given to the American Advertising Award, similar to a TELLY Award for outstanding television.
Do I need to be a member to enter or attend the gala?
No, you do not need to be a member to enter or attend the ceremony.
Is this a black-tie event?
The ADDYs are black-tie optional.
Can I just come in and review the entries and then leave before the
ceremony?
Yes, however you will still need a ticket to get into the entry showcase.
What if one part of a campaign was created and printed in Dec. of 2007 but
not mailed till Jan. of 2008, is it still eligible to enter?
Technically it was not seen by the intended audience until 2008 so it would need to be entered into the 2009 ADDY Award Competition.
How do I order a duplicate award?
If you win an award you will receive an email following the ceremony with a reorder form. Please follow all instructions on the form.
How do I know if I won at the District or National level?
A representative from District or National will contact you to inform you, only if you have won. Please note: there is no District Award Ceremony and the National Ceremony is held in conjunction with the AAF National Conference every year.
